Rubber Band Alley
This activity is open to all age groups but is a great way to introduce Beaver Scouts to shooting in a controlled & safe environment. The activity is self-run by leaders following a safety induction from JLW staff. The format of the activity is very similar to air rifle shooting so as to teach the correct use of a shooting range whilst using the safer rubber band rifles.
There are four rifles that can be used at the same time while the rest of the group wait behind the barrier. Small size safety glasses are provided for all youngsters to wear.
Use of the alley requires groups to make an initial purchase of 100 rubber bands from the Duty Wardens. These can be kept and reused on future visits.
For safety reasons, only the bands supplied by John’s Lee Wood can be used with the wooden rifles please. Use of other rubber bands is not allowed as different sizes or tensions may result in personal injury or damage to the equipment.
The easiest way to book any of our onsite activities is to book in advance using our online Activities Booking Form. Alternatively, you may contact our Activities Coordinator should you have any questions.
This facility can also be booked onsite with the Duty Warden team (if booking onsite you may have a limited choice of times if others have already pre-booked)
